The Saint Benedict ring pays tribute to the Cross of Saint Benedict, which has very ancient origins. Designed by Pope Benedict XIV, it consists of two sides: on one side is depicted the cross with the initials of the verses that make up the prayer; on the other side is Saint Benedict with the words “Eius in obitu nostro presentia muniamur” ("May we be protected by his presence at the hour of our death").
